Campus Currents: Feb. 3-9

What’s happening at UI this week?

Campus Currents | Riley Helal

Happy Monday, Vandals! February is finally here after what seemed like a very long January. Campus is still coming alive as the semester progresses, so here are some fun events to check out if you have free time this week!

Meet the ASUI Joe Vandal Sculptor (Monday, Feb. 3)

At 5 p.m. in the ICCU Arena, you have a chance to meet the sculptor building the ASUI Joe Vandal statue for the Kibbie Dome. You can ask questions, provide feedback and learn more about the project as a whole! This event is open and free to everyone.

Live Sculpting of the ASUI Joe Vandal Monument (Tuesday, Feb. 4)

Starting bright and early at 8 a.m., you can watch the Joe Vandal monument being sculpted in real time at the ISUB Rotunda. This will be happening from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. all week long, so there’s no need to worry if Tuesday doesn’t work for your schedule!

Men’s Basketball vs. Portland State (Thursday, Feb. 6)

Support the men’s basketball team in the ICCU Arena at 6 p.m. as they go against Portland State. Gather some of your friends to enjoy a fun and competitive game! Cheer on your fellow Vandals and take a break from homework. Tickets are free for students, $13-18 for adults and $8 for youth, available at https://govandals.com/

Jazz Bands and Jazz Choirs (Friday, Feb. 7)

Join the Lionel Hampton School of Music from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Administration Building auditorium for an evening of wonderful performances from the UI Jazz Bands and Choirs. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students, seniors and children (12 and under).
