What’s happening at UI this week?

As the semester gets underway, it can be easy to get wrapped up in the busyness and stress of this time of year, but it’s important to remember to take breaks and have fun as well! Check out these exciting activities and events happening on campus this week to get out and try something new. 

Backcountry Film Festival 

This Wednesday at 7 p.m. students can come to the Kenworthy Theater for the annual Backcountry Film Festival. This Outdoor program event is a fun opportunity to watch documentaries and films about ski and snow sports. Admission is $12 and money raised will be donated to the Idaho Panhandle Avalanche Center and the Wallowa Avalanche Center. 

Aerial Arts Clinic 

For students looking to try something new, the Aerial Arts Clinic will be happening this Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. in the SRC Climbing Center. The clinic is an introduction to aerial arts and there is no prior experience needed. The cost to attend is $10 per person. 

FAFSA Workshop 

The FAFSA has recently been updated, and navigating this important part of financial aid can be very difficult for students. Clear up any confusion and get help filling out your FAFSA will the FAFSA workshop happening from noon- 2 p.m. on Thursday in the Pitman Center. In addition to free help with the FAFSA from UI Student Financial Aid Services, students who attend will also be entered into a $1000 scholarship drawing. 

“Duality” Performance 

This Thursday from 7:30 – 9 p.m. the Lionel Hampton Music School of Music will be presenting “Duality”, a saxophone and piano musical recital. Vanessa Sielert and Catherine Anderson will be performing in the Haddock Performance Hall for a beautiful evening of music from some of UI’s own faculty. 

Vandal Athletics 

On Thursday, Vandal Women’s Basketball will be competing against Idaho State in the ICCU Arena from 6-9 p.m. They will compete again on Saturday against Weber State at 2 p.m. in the ICCU Arena. 

This Friday and Saturday, Vandal Track and Field/Cross Country will be competing in the Lauren McCluskey Memorial on the Lauren McCluskey Track.
