Over a dozen schools competed in the Lauren McCluskey Memorial Open this weekend. The competition started with a dedication ceremony before the events. Directly after the ceremony, junior Lorenz Herrmann started things off with a bang as his time of 4:03.17 in the men’s mile broke the school record.

Idaho had 11 total competitors finish in first while multiple individuals had top-five performances. In the 4×400 relays, the event that ended the meet, both Idaho teams finished second. Many Vandals also put up personal bests (17 on day one, unknown on day two).

The Vandals will look to have another successful weekend when they compete at the Inland Northwest Invitational in Spokane, Washington on Jan. 28.
