What’s happening at UI this week

As UI students get closer and closer to Fall Break, it can be easy to get overwhelmed by all the pressure of classes and assignments. Rest and reset with these fun activities and events happening at UI this week. 

Get Crafty 

For students who feel like embracing their creative sides this week, check out these opportunities to get crafty and learn new skills. 

Make it at the MILL is happening this Wednesday from noon-4 p.m. at the MILL inside the UI Library. This week’s activity is sewing felt creatures. Students have the chance to learn basic sewing skills while creating a unique and fun felt design to take home. 

On Thursday, the Student Sustainability Coalition is presenting ‘Mend it with SSC’ starting at 5 p.m. in the ISUB Whitewater room. Students can learn about creative ways to mend old and worn-out clothes. They can also bring their own clothes to get help with alterations for free. 

This Friday, the Women’s Center is hosting ‘Friday Crafternoon’ from noon-2 p.m. in the Women’s Center in Memorial Gym room 109. Art supplies will be provided as well as a free lunch and the chance to meet new friends. 

Veterans Day 

Veteran’s Day is this Friday Nov. 11. UI is celebrating and honoring veterans with a Wreath Ceremony at 11 a.m. on the Administration Lawn. UI students, faculty and the Moscow community are all invited to join President Scott Green in recognizing Veteran’s Day. 

Music and Theater 

This Thursday, from 7:30-9:00 p.m., the UI Opera Workshop is presenting ‘Opera Scenes’ in the Administration Building Auditorium. This exciting evening of opera and music theater scenes costs $12 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets can be purchased here.  

On Saturday, theater fans can enjoy the one night only show “Cry Havoc” hosted by the Idaho Repertory Theater. This one man show featuring Stephan Wolfert will be at the Forge Theater in Moscow. Admission is free for UI Students and Veterans and $25 for others. Seating is limited, so purchase tickets online. 

Vandal Athletics 

On Thursday, Vandal Men’s Basketball is facing off against Walla Walla University from 6-9 p.m. in the ICCU Arena. 

Vandal fans can cheer on the football team this Saturday as they take on UC Davis from 4-7 p.m. in the Kibbie Dome. The Vandal Tailgate will be happening in the ICCU Arena Plaza before the game.
