BREAKING: Classes and events cancelled at Moscow University of Idaho campus for Monday

Poor air quality cited as primary concern

Breaking News Graphic

Due to poor air quality, classes and events on the Moscow campus of University of Idaho have been cancelled for Monday. The HUB, Papa John’s, Joe’s Cheesy Grill and the Grid will all remain open. Other university locations will make independent decisions about closures based on the air quality of each area.

“Wildfire smoke continues to pose an air quality problem in much of the Northwest,” an email to Moscow-based faculty, staff and students stated. “Air quality conditions deteriorated significantly over the past 48 hours and are currently unhealthy.”

Detailed information on air quality can be found on the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality website, but conditions can change quickly.

“Anyone with symptoms of lung or heart disease that may be related to excess smoke exposure, including repeated coughing, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, wheezing, chest tightness or pain, heart palpitations, nausea, unusual fatigue or light-headedness, should contact health care provider or the Vandal Health Clinic,” the email stated.
