Reservations for Student Recreation Center no longer required

breaking news sports

Beginning Monday, reservations will no longer be required to use the University of Idaho Student Recreation Center. Group gatherings are still not allowed in the building prior to, during or after workouts.

Individuals can drop in during operation hours, although the maximum capacity of the building will be limited to 70 people. If the space reaches this capacity, individuals will be able to wait inside the atrium while following social distancing and face covering protocols until someone leaves. Face masks are not required during workouts.

Individuals who use the SRC are asked to wipe down all the machines and weights they touch once they are done with them, wash their hands often and social distance while using the space. Exercisers are asked to stay home if they are sick.

Some spaces within the SRC will still be closed. These include the locker rooms on the first floor, basketball courts, WellSpace, SRC Classroom, fitness studios, sunset lounge, rowing cave and stretching areas on the second floor.

Although the basketball courts are closed, equipment which follows social distancing protocols are located on the floors, as seen in a Saturday Facebook post.

Full-time students enrolled in summer or fall classes will have access to the SRC for free while part time students can have summer access for a lump sum of $20. Non-students can purchase one-month passes for $20. For those who do not wish to buy a pass, the daily use rate is $4.

The SRC is open on a block schedule for now. Hours include 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. weekends. The SRC will be closed for sanitization and deep cleaning between each time block.

Full reopening protocols can be found on the SRC website

The Climbing Center is open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. The Climbing Center is closed Sundays. Like the SRC, the Climbing Center will be closed for sanitation and deep cleaning between each block.

The Outdoor Recreation Center (ORC) is still being run on a curbside service basis. Individuals must call or email to reserve equipment and make an appointment to pick it up. Customers will not be allowed in the building. Individual customers are still asked to load and unload all equipment themselves.

Reservations and appointments for ORC can be made by contacting (208)-885-6170. ORC is open 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
