Things are scary right now. Things are boring and can be infuriating. During this time there are three main emotions that me and many others are feeling: boredom, anger and sadness. In social distancing I’ve found three albums for each of these moods.

Boredom:

1. Injury Reserve – “Floss”

This album will give college party vibes a lot of people miss right now. Loud, fun and at times funky. The beats along with gruff vocals occupy this album. This album is guaranteed to get you in a better mood for when you miss the party scene.

2. Don Toliver – “Heaven or Hell”

Don Toliver followed in the steps of his labelmate Travis Scott by dropping an album of nothing but bangers. The production is incredible, the vocals are incredible and the features don’t miss. This is the album for someone wanting to turn on some flashing lights and go off.

3. Iglooghost – “Neo Wax Bloom”

EDM music to rave at home to. It’s an instant cure for boredom.

Anger:

1. Rage Against the Machine – “Evil Empire”

Anti-establishment music to the tune of genuine90’s rock. At least a few people will be shouting the lyrics with front-man Zach de la Rocha by the end of the album.

2. Death Grips – “Bottomless Pit”

It doesn’t get angrier than Death Grips. The combinations of metal, shouting vocals, aggressive production and even a bit of punk-rap thrown in there makes this an instrument for anger channeling.

3. City Morgue – “CITY MORGUE VOL. 1: HELL OR HIGH WATER”

Rap and metal typically don’t go together, but the combination of Zillakami and SosMula make it work. It’s angry and raging, like metal should be with the bars needed to accompany rap music.

Sadness:

1. Frank Ocean – “Blond”

Frank Ocean’s 2016 R&B masterpiece is already a go to breakup album. If a person is sitting at home and needs to cry from missing friends, this is the album to listen to.

2. The Weeknd – “Trilogy”

The Weeknd’s 2012 album is a great sad album to listen to. Not only is the Weeknd’s voice already sad in itself, but the combination of the topic matter of drugs, nightlife, home and women on this album gives it a distinct sad feeling.

3. SZA – “CTRL”

SZA’s 2017 album is another go to album on the topic of relationships. If you need soothing voices and instrumentals while missing friends and your normal routine, then this is another album that works for that.
