ASUI to hold VANDALthon in support of Sacred Heart’s Children Hospital in Spokane

VANDALthon, the University-wide dance marathon philanthropic event will begin 6 p.m. Friday in the Idaho Commons Atrium.

VANDALthon, previously a dance marathon, is the final event to celebrate yearlong peer to peer fundraising events at the University of Idaho.

There is a $10 registration fee per individual to participate, and all funds raised at the event will go to Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital in Spokane, Wash., the local Children’s Miracle Network hospital for the area.

“The money that we raise for the Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital will go directly to providing better care for kids in the form of improved technology, engaging activities and subsidized treatment,” said Nicole Skinner, ASUI President. “This is an incredible opportunity to impact children’s lives and make a difference. Along with supporting a great cause, VANDALthon is going to be so much fun.”

Free food, drinks and large-scale board game activities will be provided all night long.

There will also be a raffle with prizes including movie and football tickets.

VANDALthon will include a headphone disco from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. put on by Vandal Entertainment using a three-channel system to select the music to dance to. Local musician, Boredom Corporation will also be in attendance, along with Zumba and a dance off with Joe Vandal.

This will be the third time Senior Danica Corkern has attended the event and she does not see any reason for someone not to participate.

“I have a personal connection with childhood cancer and pediatric hospitals because of my sister,” Corkern said. “I think it’s a good way for people to spend their Friday night.”

Participants can register for the event on online and are encouraged to register as teams.
