The ASUI Senate met last Wednesday to discuss the new Vandal Student Lounge in the Idaho Commons.
The official opening date for the lounge is Sept. 28. ASUI President McKenzie MacDonald said this is so it will be open for the Vandal Overnight Games. The furniture for the lounge should have arrived by Sept. 22, she said.
One subject discussed in further detail was cable access in the new lounge.
The new lounge will not have cable set up in the beginning, Director of Student Involvement Shawn O’Neal said.
“It’s hard to get cable, we’ve been looking for a long time,” O’Neal said. “The ultimate solution will be cable. For this first session we are probably going to an alternative solution.”
The lounge will likely use streaming services until it is able to find a cable or satellite provider, O’Neal said.
