University of Idaho sophomore Rendel Jones said he models his personal wardrobe after that of blonde-haired lady’s man Barney Stinson from CBS television hit “How I Met Your Mother.”

Jones’ admiration of Stinson’s “suit-up” style is not unique. In fact, a variety of UI students said they look up to the bachelor’s slick style.

“Barney Stinson from ‘How I Met Your Mother’,” Senior Dan Blackwell said.

Senior AJ MacVittie also said Barney Stinson.

“He’s just Neil Patrick Harris at his finest,” Macvittie said.

Known for his vicarious suits and hilarious displays of game changing moves — in and out of the bar scene — he more importantly has gained many Vandals’ respect for his dedication to the Stinson personal style.

When a character dresses in a way the audience can relate to or admire, he or she becomes more memorable.

Stinson’s undying love for designer suits and his consistent style advice keep viewers — and on-screen friends — coming back for more.

Television shows set in the 1950s were also popular sources of inspiration for UI males.

“The fashion of the men in classic, very formal and clean. Hair slicked and looking fresh and the women’s clothing is very conservative and reflective of that era,” Senior Adam Capp said.

There is a modernized golden-age look to the show of “Mad Men.” The show’s phenomenon consists of razor sharp tailoring and silhouettes of the 60s.

Some UI females expressed interest in style from other television shows that the men would never admit to even know about.

“Adrianna from ‘90210′ because she can dress well, (and her style always) goes with the occasion,” said sophomore Jessica Valadez.

Valadez said she is a big fan of “90210” and likes that each character in the show, even the male characters, can convey their personality through clothing.

“Pretty Little Liars” was also popular among female students.

“Spencer from ‘Pretty Little Liars’,” sophomore Cait Rowland said.

Sophomore Alexandra Chapman also chose a “Pretty Little Liars” cast member.

“Hanna from ‘Pretty Little Liars’ because (her style) is edgy at times, yet simple in other times,” Chapman said.

It’s true that there is some favorite shows running through television screens of UI’s campus. While Barney Stinson-fans rock their suits, delicate and flirty women of shows like “90210” and “Pretty Little Liars” continue to inspire some to impress UI ladies.
