“Dads Weekend is to bring dads up to see their students,” said Victoria Plaster, Dads Weekend co-chair with the Student Alumni Relations Board, “It is a tradition UI has always put on and we are keeping the tradition.”
The weekend will begin with an Iron Dad competition.
“Iron Dad will be a competition between dads and students playing different minute-to-win-it games. It’s a great and easy way to have fun and everyone will have a good time,”  Plaster said. “Both my parents are coming up for Dads Weekend. I haven’t seen them since the beginning of the summer. I can’t wait to compete in Iron Dad, being funny, doing minute-to-win-it games.”
The Tradition Keeper challenge will take place at 6 p.m. in the VandalStore.
Dads Weekend co-chair Kelsey Stemrich said everyone should participate in the Tradition Keeper Challenge.
The bookstore will have traditions books, she said. If students buy a book and go around campus with the traditions keeper chair from SArb, they can get traditions signed off and then receive a medallion to wear during graduation.
Beer Tasting is also at 6 p.m. Friday under the canopy at the Coeur d’Alene Brewing Company Alehouse.
A Dads Weekend BBQ will take place at Bogey’s at the UI Golf Course at 11:30 a.m., and costs $15. The Farewell Breakfast will be at 8 a.m. Sunday — this will be a buffet style breakfast for $12.50.
“There are six events this year to start off the weekend,” Jim Martinez, president of SArb said.”Students and parents should take this opportunity to attend not only the SArb events, but also other clubs’ events.”
Plaster said everyone should enjoy Dads Weekend.
“You need to take advantage of UI’s traditions, it’s a great and fun way to connect with students,” Plaster said.
