On Thursday, November 5th, at 3:30-4:30 p.m., the university will be hosting its fourth annual Power of Possibility Talks in the International Ballroom of the Pitman Center. The talks include eight faculty at the university who have researched a variety of topics ranging from AI to human movement.
The event gives speakers the opportunity to present their research in four-minute presentations, which the audience will then use to determine which researches will receive the grand prize for the evening: $2,500. All in-person and online attendees will have an opportunity to vote for their preferred program. Additionally, two students who attend the event in person will be entered to win a $1000 dollar scholarship.
The talks this year will feature Barrie Robinson, who’ll speak on how AI can reduce paperwork for universities; Leda Kobziar, who will speak on the impact of wildfire smoke on bacteria and fungi spreading; Marz Everett, who will speak on AI uses for agriculture and manufacturing; Tom Jacobsen, who will speak on technological advances in agriculture; Joshua Bailey, who will speak on human movement and how to reduce injury risk while training; Colin Xu, who will speak on the reasons behind the varying efficacy of mental health treatment; Nicholas Coombs, who will speak on barriers to healthcare in rural communities; and finally, Andy Kliskey, who will speak on helping communities prepare for changes affecting water, energy, and other resources.
