The City of Moscow has officially sent off the Biennial Citizen survey to 1,200 randomly selected households. The purpose of the survey, as stated by a press release issued on Oct. 19, is to gather feedback from residents on “local programs, municipal services, and future policy priorities.”

Mayor Hailey Lewis said in a City of Moscow press release, “Your participation is very important and valuable” and will be used to focus the City’s policy efforts “on what is most important to our fellow citizens.”

The last survey, conducted in 2024, was a total of 37 questions. Of the 37, 14 were standardized and are expected to be relatively similar in this year’s survey. They included questions about residents’ perceptions of quality of life and their neighborhood, and the value of city-provided services.

There were 21 questions covering demographic statistics on residents, such as age, employment status and income. The final two were open-ended, with residents able to make narrative comments on the questions provided. Past surveys may be viewed on the City of Moscow’s archive page.

A new addition to the Biennial Citizen survey is a QR code and printed web link provided on the packet materials, allowing residents to complete it online.

Physical packets are expected to be bright blue in color and have the City of Moscow seal on them, and all responses recorded from the survey will be anonymous and compiled into a results report.
