As the University of Idaho’s volleyball team continues its 2026 season, standout sophomore Kiana Greer is already making her mark on the Vandal roster, establishing herself as one of the team’s top offensive and defensive players.
In the Vandals’ most recent tournament, the CBU Joust, Greer put together one of her strongest performances of the young season, recording 19 kills against host school Cal Baptist — a new season high.
Originally from Torrance, California, Greer played both outside hitter and libero in high school, earning a reputation for her ability to contribute on both sides of the net. She even described herself as a “libero that can hit.”
Her versatility became one of her defining strengths, allowing her to make an impact both offensively and defensively and making her a difficult opponent to account for on the court.
By the end of Greer’s high school career, she had logged 492 kills, 315 digs, 26 blocks and 57 aces. Her aggressive style of play, combined with her positive attitude and drive, helped her become one of the standout players in the Pioneer League. She won the Pioneer League MVP three times and became the 2021 California Interscholastic Federation Division Five Player of the Year.
That success did not stop when she made the jump to the collegiate level. During her 2025 debut season, Greer broke Idaho’s record for most kills in a single season since 2019, finishing her freshman campaign with 333 kills and quickly establishing herself as an important part of the Vandals’ lineup.
Greer’s total stats by the end of her first college season included 236 digs, 26 blocks and 12 service aces, further demonstrating the all-around impact that made her such a valuable player for Idaho.
With the Vandals starting the season on a high note at 6-3 through their first three tournaments, Greer has continued that momentum into her sophomore campaign. She is currently leading the team in kills, tallying 110 kills, 72 digs and 11 service aces over the Vandals’ first nine nonconference games.
Most recently, she set season highs across several categories during the CBU Joust, held Sept. 10-12. Greer recorded 19 kills against Cal Baptist, 12 digs against Sacred Heart and three service aces against North Dakota. The performances highlighted the versatility that has followed her throughout her volleyball career and showed why she remains a key piece of the Vandals’ early-season success.
For Greer, however, her impact extends beyond the numbers on the stat sheet. Her contributions have helped push the Vandals toward the “winning culture” she wanted to be a part of when she chose to play college volleyball.
Fortunately, her dedication to the sport and her team has translated into recognition both on and off the court. Last year, she was awarded a full-ride scholarship to the University of Idaho in recognition of her positive impact on the program.
Vandal volleyball head coach Romana Kriskova described Greer as a player whose competitive mentality has quickly made her a leader within the team.
“Kiana has been an unwavering force for us. She carries that chip on her shoulder, driven by the fierce need to prove everyone wrong with her.” Said head coach Romana Kriskova. “Every time she steps onto the court, she wants to win. Her mentality and attitude are truly contagious, inspiring everyone around her. Though she’s only a sophomore, Kiana has already become a foundational pillar of this team, and I can’t wait to see the incredible legacy she’s already beginning to shape for Vandal volleyball.”
With an impressive start to her second collegiate season, Greer enters conference play carrying the momentum of a standout nonconference campaign. The Vandals will begin conference play on Sept. 24 against the Idaho State University Bengals, where Greer will look to build on her early-season success and continue establishing herself as one of Idaho’s key players.
