The University of Idaho College of Engineering showcaseing engineering innovations of UI students at this year’s Engineering EXPO will be held Thursday, April 30, and Friday, May 1.

EXPO is the longest-running student showcase for engineering and technological innovations in the region, celebrating its 31st annual meeting. This year’s keynote speaker is Tom Mueller, a UI alumnus and a renowned space propulsion expert. The keynote address will take place on Friday, from 12:30-1:15 p.m, and is free and open to the public.

Mueller is the founder and CEO of Impulse Space, leading the development of chemical propulsion systems, orbital transfer vehicles and planetary landers. Before the founding of his own company, he was a founding member of SpaceX.

On Thursday afternoon, virtual technical presentations will begin, with teams of all disciplines presenting industry-sponsored projects over Zoom.

On Friday, the in-person EXPO will open at 9 a.m. at the ICCU Arena. The STEM activity fair will take place at the same time and location, on the practice court. Virtual technical presentations will continue in the afternoon. All events are free and open to the public.
