Fresh off a breakthrough season that ended with a Big Sky Championship and the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1990, the Idaho men’s basketball team has entered the next phase.
With multiple key contributors departing, head coach Alex Pribble and his staff have wasted little time assembling the foundation for the 2026-27 season. Through a mix of transfers and high school signees, Idaho is building a roster loaded with length and versatility.
The most notable addition so far is former Idaho Gatorade Player of the year, Kase Wynott. Wynott played his high school career at Lapwai before playing his freshman year at Washington State. A 6-foot—6-inch” guard, Wynott arrives in Moscow with one of the most decorated high school resumes in Idaho history.
He finished his prep career as the state’s all-time leading scorer with nearly 3,000 points and set a single-game record with 68. His production at Lapwai was unmatched, averaging 36 points, 13.9 rebounds and 9.1 assists per game while establishing himself as one of the most dynamic players in the country at the high school level.
Keeping elite in-state players close to home has been a priority for Pribble’s staff, and Wynott’s return reinforces that approach. His size and ability to score at all three levels give the Vandals a potential centerpiece as they reshape their offense.
Head coach Alex Pribble is excited about getting Wynott in the black and gold.
“Kase is coming home! He was a recruit we really prioritized when our staff first got here, so it’s exciting to officially get him in the Vandal uniform,” Pribble said in an Idaho Athletics press release.
Joining Wynott, TJ Wal, a 6-foot-7-inch” guard from Edmonton, Alberta, has a decorated scoring resume. After starring at Archbishop O’Leary Catholic High School, Wal finished his prep career with Overtime Elite’s Jelly Fam in Atlanta, where he averaged 18 points per game while shooting 46.2% from the field and an impressive 52.6% from three-point range.
His ability to stretch the floor at his size fits into Idaho’s offensive identity, which has relied heavily on perimeter shooting in each of the last two seasons.
“We are very excited about the addition of TJ,” Pribble said in the release. “He is a truly gifted player, with a unique combination of skill and size that will make him very hard to guard. He’s also a tremendous young man, who is really focused on his development. He has huge potential, and we can’t wait to get him to Idaho and get to work.”
That same theme carries over with Nolan Newman-Gomez, a 6-foot-8-inch guard out of Hesperia High School in California. Newman-Gomez played a central role in leading Hesperia to a CIF Southern Section Division-II Championship, including a 24-point performance in the semifinals.
“Nolan is a true diamond in the rough, in the best way,” Pribble said. “He didn’t play AAU, so his exposure was limited, but he absolutely dominated at the high school level. He has a great skill set and is extremely versatile at 6-foot-8. He is also the valedictorian of his high school class and has an incredible work ethic.
While the Vandals have prioritized long, skilled wings, one of the most important additions may come from the transfer portal.
Diego Trejo-Delgado, a junior forward from Division-II Saint Martin’s, is a native of Camargo, Mexico. He is coming off a standout season in which he averaged 15.2 points and nearly seven rebounds per game while shooting 49% from the field. He also led his team with 30 blocks.
With his physical style of play, Trejo-Delgado gives Idaho a versatile forward capable of contributing on both ends of the floor.
“Diego is a huge piece of the puzzle for us,” Pribble said. “He brings some real toughness and competitiveness to our team. He’s versatile and can impact the game in a lot of ways. The Vandal community is going to love watching him!”
The final addition for the Vandals comes in the backcourt in the form of Jalen Williams, a guard from San Marcos High School in California. A 2024 All-CIF selection, Williams is known for his ability to score smoothly and create offense.
Idaho is replacing a significant portion of its championship roster. Starters Brody Rowbury and Biko Johnson have exhausted their eligibility, while Kolton Mitchell, Isaiah Brickner and Jackson Rasmussen have entered the transfer portal. Key reserves Jack Payne and Trevon Blassingame are also moving on.
