Happy Monday, Vandals! Fall is approaching quickly, and the weather is looking a little bleak. However, campus is lively as ever, so here are some fun events to check out!
Renfrew Colloquium and Borah Symposium (Tuesday, Sept. 30)
The Renfrew Colloquium and the Borah Symposium are collaborating on a presentation called “Great Power Competition in the 21st Century: A View from the Middle East.” Visiting scholar Emine Ari will be speaking in the Vandal Ballroom from 12:30-1:30 p.m. This event is free and open to all.
Reverse Karaoke (Tuesday, Sept. 30)

Join others in the Theophilus Tower from 7-8 p.m. for a fun game of reverse karaoke. You won’t know what song will be played and what you’ll have to sing your heart out to. This event is open to all and will take place on the first floor of the Tower.
Learn @ the MILL (Wednesday, Oct. 1)
Join the staff at the MILL for their weekly event from 1:30-2:30 p.m. They will be teaching attendees how to use the sewing machines. This event will just cover the basics, so it’s perfect for anyone wanting to pick up a new hobby.
Lionel Hampton Jazz Fest Poster Reveal (Wednesday, Oct. 1)
From 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Moscow City Hall, the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival is in collaboration with the City of Moscow Arts to reveal the 2026 LHJF Commemorative poster. Live music and light refreshments will be available, and attendees will be the first to hear who’s in the lineup of musicians performing at the jazz festival in April of 2026. The original poster art is done by a UI alum, Cody Muir. Catering by Goose House Bakery and performances by UI student ensembles are some things to look forward to. This event is free and open to all.
First Bite New Play Series – “Slingtown” (Friday, Oct. 3)
Tune in via Zoom for this free reading of a new play, “Slingtown” by Abigail Johnson from 5-7 p.m. The play is set in the 1970s in Twin Springs, Indiana, where pinball is outlawed. Caught between a mayor and a shady pinball underworld, John Patrick O’Sullivan must play pinball to save his family and the future of pinball itself.
Pumpkin Fest (Saturday, Oct. 4)
Join the Student Sustainability Cooperative on the Soil Stewards Farm from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. for Pumpkin Fest! Help out at the organic farm for a fun morning of community and sustainability. You may get to take some fresh produce home. Bring water, sun protection and closed-toed shoes.
First Bite New Play Series – “Polyhedral” (Saturday, Oct. 4)
Tune in via Zoom from 5-7 p.m. for a free reading of the new play “Polyhedral” by D.S. Levy. The play follows a group of Dungeons and Dragons players who get pulled from fantasy into a real crisis when their Dungeon Master goes missing. The story is an exploration of friendships, mental health and the power of showing up.
Africa Night (Saturday, Oct. 4)
Head over to the International Ballroom of the Pitman Center from 5-7 p.m. for a wonderful night of culture and fun. This event celebrates the rich diversity of African culture through music, food, performances and more. Tickets are $15 for students and $20 for general admission.
