What’s happening at the University of Idaho this week?

Happy Monday! It’s another great week on campus with many fun and educational events happening. Here are some of the highlights to look forward to.  

Renfrew Colloquium (Tuesday, Sept. 23) 

The weekly Renfrew Colloquium will take place again on the first floor of the University of Idaho Library from 12:30-1:30 p.m. This week’s topic is “Voices and Votes: Democracy in America,” and the speaker will be Markie McBrayer from the University of Idaho’s Politics and Philosophy department.  

Make It @ the MILL (Wednesday, Sept. 24) 

Head over to the MILL from 12:30-4 p.m. to learn how to make faux stained glass. Participants will be using alcohol inks to create unique designs and make a beautiful piece of decor. When the light shines through, it will look just like real stained glass! All materials will be provided and this class is free for everyone. 

International Tea Series (Wednesday, Sept. 24) 

Join the International Programs Office and Academic Coaching for a mindful break with delicious and soothing herbal teas from around the world. This event will be held in the International Programs Office in the LLCs from 3:30-4:30 p.m. This event is a great opportunity to engage in tea traditions while learning about tools to support you this semester. This event is free and open to all.  

ACMS Masterclass: Lyrra (Thursday, Sept. 25) 

Hosted by the Auditorium Chamber Music Series, this masterclass will take place in the Admin Auditorium from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Lyrra will give a free masterclass for vocalists. The instructors include MaryRuth Miller and Anna Crumley for soprano; Ingrid Johnson for mezzo soprano; Aryssa Leigh Burrs for alto; and Cecille Elliott for contralto. 

Get Dirty with the Soil Stewards (Thursday, Sept. 25) 

From 5-7 p.m. at the Soil Stewards Farm, you can join the UI Soil Stewards by helping them water, weed and harvest their organic crops. This is a great opportunity to learn more about organic farms and make new friends, along with possibly getting some fresh produce to take home with you! Please wear closed-toed shoes and bring water and sunscreen. 

Lyrra Concert (Thursday, Sept. 25) 

From 7:30-9:30 p.m. in the Admin Auditorium, Lyrra will perform the first event of the 2025 Auditorium Chamber Music Series. Lyrra is an all-women vocal ensemble from the VOCES8 Foundation. The group sings classical, jazz, pop and folk music, creating a world-class musical experience. Tickets can be purchased at uitickets.com or at the door (card only).  

Friday Crafternoon (Friday, Sept. 26) 

Join the Violence Prevention and Education Office in a fun and crafty event. Held in the Violence Prevention Office in the Memorial Gym, this event will run from 12:30-2:30 p.m. All are welcome and the event is completely free. Supplies and light snacks will be provided. Participants will be creating their own essential oil rollers. 

Bangladesh Night (Saturday, Sept. 27) 

The annual Bangladesh Night is back! From 5-7 p.m. in the International Ballroom of the Pitman Center, attendees can experience the culture of Bangladesh through delicious food and compelling performances. Tickets can be purchased online or in front of the UI Library on Monday and Wednesday from 12:30-2:30 p.m.
