The Vandals will head off to Big Sky Country to take on the #3 ranked Montana State Bobcats. After beating #25 Northern Arizona University in their homecoming game, the Vandals will face yet another ranked opponent on the road.

Montana St. will prove to be a tough opponent for the Vandals. Averaging almost 42 points a game while also averaging almost 500 yards of offense per game. The Bobcats are led by QB Tommy Mellot, who is averaging almost 10 yards per pass attempt and has yet to throw an interception on the season. However, not a single Bobcat opponent is currently ranked.

When asked by reporters about the best way to stop the dominant Bobcat offense, Coach Eck had this to say:

“The most effective way to stop them, is to have them on the sideline.”

Coach Eck believes that the Bobcats are easily their second-best opponent, with the, at the time, #3 ranked University of Oregon being their best. However, the Vandals have proven they can play football at a high level against ranked opponents on the road. With this game against Montana St. marking the Vandals fifth away game, and fifth game against a ranked opponent.

The Vandals, who have been without their starting QB since week one, will look to Jack Wagner and Nick Joisfeck to lead the air attack in this game. Wagner, who has greatly surpassed expectations this season, has also been battling a shoulder injury. Nick Josifeck, the third string, has taken a larger role in leading the offense. Both QB’s shared snaps last game, with Josifeck taking most of the pass attempts, as well as having the most passing yards between the two.

The Vandals will kick-off at 7:15 p.m. in Bozeman, Montana on ESPN 2. Purchase tickets for the game here.
