Prosecutors in the Kohberger case have filed a motion requesting a trial date for next summer. The trial would take six weeks including the penalty phase and begin and end outside of the Moscow High School and the University of Idaho’s academic calendar.

The court is concerned with the safety of students getting to school. The increased amount of vehicle traffic in proximity to Moscow High School would affect pedestrians and parking in the area according to the court document.

The prosecution is also requesting deadlines for completion of discovery, expert disclosures, pretrial motions, and responses, jury questionnaire proposals, proposed jury instructions, proposed witnesses, rule 404(b) notices, dates for pretrial motions to be heard, and any other matters that facilitate orderly progress of the trial.

The prosecution is also requesting that both parties be given enough time to supplement all of their evidence, witnesses, disclosures, and exhibits.

The prosecution also recommended if the court needs help setting dates and deadlines, to schedule a brief status conference, for scheduling.
