Almost everyone loves a good festival fair. Last Thursday, September 21, in the ISUB Plaza, Harvest Days was a big hit. From caramel apples to live music to a petting zoo, every student that came had their share of fun.

Kamryn Morris, a freshman at the university, said “I just am really glad that we have the opportunity to go to events like this.”

Though it was a little rainy, many clubs represented themselves with flyers and stickers at their tables and booths. One of those tables was the Residence Hall Association (RHA) who offered pumpkin coloring pages The Idaho Eats table had coupons, stickers, and pamphlets about the food options on campus.  The entomology club had an array of insects to look at or hold their table.

“I really like it. I watched my friends hold a stick bug earlier and they really enjoyed that which was pretty fun,” Morris said

Just inside the ISUB, students could make their own caramel apples. They could pick green or red apples, slice them, pour caramel over the top, and then add other toppings like M&Ms and Oreo crumbles. Sophomore Elizabeth Bourassa said that it was one of her favorite parts of the event. It was one of the biggest hits, but not the only one. Kettle Corn was available across the way and the students flocked there in droves. In front of the Kettle Corn booth, there were sheltered tables for students to sit, eat, or decorate cloth tote bags that were being handed out.

Along the grass on the side of the tables and booths, there was a petting zoo with sheep, cows, and a horse. This was probably the biggest hit, as it had the longest line.  In front of the petting zoo, the Palouse Research, Extension and Education Center table had a sign up for a giveaway, and there were many more fun things to check out at this fun-filled fair.

When asked how she was enjoying the event, Bourassa replied, “Yeah! I mean I was at it last year. It feels like there’s a little bit more.”

This year’s Harvest Days turned out to be a smashing success!
