There’s so much happening this week at the University of Idaho for students and the Moscow community to enjoy. Take a break from homework this week to check out some of these exciting activities events on campus! 

Borah Symposium 

The Borah Symposium is an annual symposium that focuses on the causes of war and the conditions for peace. This year’s theme is World on the Edge: The future of International Cooperation and is happening Monday – Wednesday this week. The event includes keynote speakers and presentations throughout the week for students to attend. 

On Monday at 7 p.m. in the Pitman Center International Ballroom, the first Borah event will be happening. The keynote speaker will be Fiona Hill, former Deputy Assistant to the President of the United States, followed by a Fireside chat monitored by UI professor Kenton Bird. 

Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. in the Pitman Center Vandal Ballroom, there will be a keynote address by David Koplow, a law professor at Georgetown University. Later on Tuesday, there will be a screening of the documentary “Putin’s Attack on Ukraine: Documenting War Crimes” at the Kenworthy Theater starting at 7 p.m. 

On Wednesday starting at 7 p.m. there will be a plenary address given by former Idaho Governor Dirk Kempthorne in the Pitman Center International Ballroom.  

Get Crafty 

Students can explore their creative side this week with ‘Make it @ the MILL’ happening on Thursday from 12:30 – 4:30 p.m. in the library MILL. This week’s activity is making mini eraser stamps! 

The Women’s Center is also hosting Friday Crafternoon this Friday from 12:30 – 2:30 in the Memorial Gym room 109. Attendees can enjoy a free lunch and make Mola folk art in celebration of Latinx heritage month. 

Latinx Heritage Keynote 

This Thursday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Pitman Center Vandal Ballroom, there will be a keynote address in celebration of Latinx Heritage Month. The speaker this year will be Olmeca, a hip-hop artist, producer, scholar and activist. This keynote will weave together performance and dialogue for a one-of-a-kind presentation. 

Vandal Athletics 

Vandals Women’s Soccer will be competing this Sunday against the University of Montana starting at 1 p.m. on Sunday in the P1FCU Kibbie Dome.
