University of Idaho President Scott Green issued an announcement on Wednesday stating that the decision to demolish the King Road House will be delayed until October. There is no legal requirement for leaving the house standing, and both the prosecution and defense have released any interest in the house for their cases.

The King Road House has gathered lots of unwanted attention from the media since November. For some members of the community, the King Road house stands as a reminder of the heinous acts committed in November, while others in the community believe that the destruction of the house would impact the court case. Both perspectives were considered when making the decision to demolish the house.

The decision the demolish the King Road house will be revisited in October, and the house will eventually be demolished when the right time comes. Until then the University of Idaho is still working hard to remain discreet and respectful to the families and friends of the victims.

Green also announced that the Vandal Healing Garden and Memorial project will move into classrooms this fall, with students in the College of Art and Architecture spearheading the development plans.
