Moscow is a lively college town with many beautiful places to visit. The rolling hills of the Palouse offer some incredible sights to see, and the Moscow community offers many fun and interesting activities to take part in. Here are five of the best places to visit around Moscow during the summertime.

5.) Latah Trail

The Latah Trail is a twelve-mile-long trail that connects Troy and Moscow. It is a 10-foot-wide paved trail that parallels state route 8. The trail is also bike friendly, so if you want a good trail to ride your bike, consider the Latah trail. The trail goes through a few forested areas, and some hill areas. The scenery is exceptional, and it is a great trail to take when the weather is nice.

4.)  University of Idaho Arboretum and Botanical gardens

The University of Idaho’s Arboretum and Botanical gardens both have many species and variations of different plants and trees. There are also trails interwoven although the gardens, and benches in the shade to sit on when you want to take a break. The late spring/early summertime is one of the best times to visit the gardens because all the flowers are blooming, and the weather is nice.

3.)  Moscow Farmers Market

Moscow’s Farmers Market operates every Saturday from May through October from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Local farmers and artisans come together and sell their produce and crafts. The farmer’s market has been around annually since 1976 and has been a vibrant part of the community ever since. If you are looking for fresh produce, or if you just want a fun activity, go to the Moscow Farmers Market this Saturday.

2.) Steptoe Butte

Steptoe Butt is a trail that goes up the butte and provides a beautiful view of the Palouse at the top. Steptoe butte is a 30-minute drive northwest of Moscow and is in Whitman County Washington. There is also a road to the top if you want to skip the hike. From the top of the butte, you can easily see Mount Spokane and a vast area of the Palouse hills. For anyone who loves beautiful views, I would suggest getting to the top of the butte at dusk.

1.) Kenworthy Performing Arts Center.

The Kenworthy Performing Arts center was built in 1926 and has been a theater in Moscow for nearly 100 years. The theater shows a mix of classic movies as well as a few new ones. It is a historical building in Moscow, and the Kenworthy changes what films they are showing weekly. If you are looking to watch a movie, or visit a historical site, visit the Kenworthy.
