How does the University keep its students safe on campus?

The goal of the University of Idaho’s Campus Security Team is to create and maintain a safe, secure campus and provide a safe educational environment through a community approach to security as well as the promotion of personal safety.

The Campus Security team offers several services to students living on campus. They include campus SAFEWALKs, jumpstarts for car batteries and 24/7 hotline for student emergencies or inquiries.

If a student must walk alone at night on campus, they are free to call campus security to have a Campus Security Authority walk them to their destination. This service is available 24/7 and is free of charge and no questions asked service. The number is 1-(208)-855-7233.

They will meet you anywhere on campus and walk you to any destination on campus.

Campus Security also provides crime deterrence through random patrols throughout campus, on the lookout for potentially hazardous situations or criminal activities. Campus security works directly with the Moscow Police Department and paramedics, as well as campus facilities and building departments to report any maintenance issues, property damage, or physical safety hazards.

Campus Security also offers silent witness service. Where if a student is a victim to or witnesses a crime or breach of personal safety, they may anonymously report the incident directly to campus security.

Campus Security gets these reports immediately and they respond with appropriate investigative measures. To fill out a silent witness report, students can find this on the campus security website at https://www.uidaho.edu/infrastructure/pss/forms/silent-witness.

Students that need to connect with campus security can call 208-885-7054 or 208-874-7550. Their hotline is available 24/7 and on holidays and academics breaks.
