International student passes away

Computer-science student passed away over the weekend

An international student has passed away in an eastern Idaho hospital, according to an email from the Dean of Students Blaine Eckles.

Rojit Raut, a computer science major, passed away due to an illness on Sunday at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Raut is a first-year student from Nepal.
There will be a letter and card writing event this Friday, Feb. 3, from 2-5 p.m. at the International Programs Office Event Center, in LLC 3.

Students impacted and in need of assistance during this time can contact the Counseling and Testing Center at (208) 885-6716. If you are concerned about a student, faculty or staff member and are unsure of what to do, UI encourages you to file a VandalCARE report.

Correction: In the original release from the university, Rojit Raut’s name was spelled incorrectly
