As the midterm elections loom, many students new and returning to campus are looking to vote in the elections but are not sure where or how. Let’s talk over a few of the questions.

Who can vote?

Idaho law states that any citizen over the age of 18 who has resided in a given area for 30 days can vote in that place’s elections.

What if I’m not registered?

Idaho offers same-day voter registration at the polls. One may do so by providing proof of residence, such as a piece of mail, for those living on-campus, documentation should be able to be provided by the housing office.

If you are registered in another county in Idaho, you can switch your registry to Latah County at the polls.

Where do I Vote?

This depends on where you live. In Moscow, there are three polling locations, The Latah County Fairgrounds, The Hamilton Indoor Recreation Center, or the Student Recreation Center on campus. Where you vote depends on which precinct you live in. Campus is part of four separate precincts out of the total 18 within Moscow. If you live in the residence halls on campus, you are a part of either 8 or 16, both of which vote on campus, as well as Old Greek. If you live on New Greek, you are in Precinct 1, which votes at the Latah County Fairgrounds. If you live off campus, check out the precinct map and list of polling locations to find out your voting location.

When do I vote?

Polling locations open on election day, Nov. 8, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at your voting location. Early voting is also happening at the Latah County Courthouse Oct. 24- Nov. 4, with Saturday voting happening on Oct. 29 in the morning.
