False bomb threat at the Theophilus Tower, UI freshman arrested 

Bond was set for $10,000

University of Idaho freshman Will Schimmelman was charged Wednesday for posting a false bomb threat on Yik Yak, stating that there was a bomb hidden at the Theophilus Tower.  

Schimmelman was charged with a felony for falsely reporting an explosive in a public or private place, making his first court appearance Thursday. During his first court appearance, the bail was set at $10,000. A preliminary hearing was set for Sept. 22, 2022.  

The FBI notified the Moscow Police Department about the bomb threat Wednesday, leading to his arrest. Police were able to locate Schimmelman at the FairBridge Inn and found the threat was false before evacuating Theophilus Tower, according to the Moscow-Pullman Daily News
