Over the last weekend, the Moscow Renaissance Fair took place in East City Park. The fair has been held in Moscow since 1974. It returned to East City Park after being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, and after being held on Main Street in 2021.

The fair celebrated with live music, a craft show, food, a parade, a costume contest and maypole dancing. Renaissance fairs in the United States date back to the 1950s with a resurgence of interest in the Medieval and Renaissance periods.

Taking place on the weekend of May Day, a holiday traditionally celebrating the return of spring, the maypole was one of the activities at the center of the event.
