It looks like the weather might be finally turning towards spring this week, and with Earth Day coming up on Friday, it’s the perfect opportunity to get outside and relieve some end of semester stress. There are several activities and events planned this week for UI students to give you a chance to explore the outdoors and celebrate the planet.

To start off, students can enjoy live music, food, and so much more sustainability themed activities this Wednesday, April 20 at Earth Jam. This celebration of the earth we live on, put on by the Sustainability Center and Vandal Entertainment, will be happening from 12-3 p.m. on the Theopolis Tower Lawn. Students can come to learn more about sustainability, adopt a plant from the science club, screen print a t-shirt for themselves, and so much more. It’s sure to be a great time, so stop on by to kick off Earth Day week right.

Another outdoor activity to put on your calendar for this week is the Mountain Bike ride on Thursday, April 21. This fun Outdoor Center event gives students the opportunity to bike Moscow Mountain with a group of peers from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday. Anyone interested can meet at the Rec Center at 4 p.m., and participants must provide their own bike, helmet, and transportation to and from Moscow Mountain.

The Outdoor Center is providing one more fun opportunity to get into nature this week with the Earth Day Hike on Saturday, April 23. Students can explore Elk Creek Falls, the tallest waterfall in Idaho, on this exciting day hike. The cost is $20, and anyone who is interested can sign up at the Outdoor Program Office, or find more information online
