UI’s mask mandate to be reevaluated

Lowering COVID-19 numbers have the university discussing health protocols

Breaking News Graphic

An email from University of Idaho President Scott Green and Provost and Executive Vice President Torrey Lawrence plans for the revaluation of UI’s COVID-19 protocols with local COVID-19 rates on the decline.

“Gritman Medical Center saw the first decline in COVID-19 positivity rates in quite some time last week,” the email stated. “Two weeks ago, they reported 23.7% positivity. Last week was 18.3%.”

Last week, UI saw six reported cases on campus, according to the university’s COVID-19 page

UI’s protocols will continue to be evaluated in discussion with Gritman Medical Center and Public Health – Idaho North Central District. Masks continue to be required, but the email warns those on campus to prepare for a potential shift.
