Vandals have an exciting week to look forward to, with the annual Lionel Hampton Jazz festival at the U of I and many other exciting events and activities to attend.
The Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival has events happening from Wednesday, Jan.23 until Saturday, Jan.26. See world class artists and attend workshops with this series of both online and in person events and celebrate the history and future of jazz. You can buy tickets to these events and see the full festival schedule online.
Also happening this week, join the Sustainability center and build your own terrariums! On Wednesday, Jan. 23, students can go to the ISUB ASUI Student Lounge from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. to make a terrarium out of a recycled jar and get in touch with your green thumb.
This week is also the last week to submit your own work to the Women’s Center to be featured in the International Women’s Day showcase. The showcase will be March 7 from 11a.m.-1p.m. in the ISUB food court. Submissions are due by Feb. 28, and can be done via an online form.
Friday has two exciting events for all UI students. From 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. the Women’s Center is hosting Friday Crafternoon, where students can come make a fun craft and enjoy free snacks. And from 12 p.m. – 9 p.m., any student can bring their vandal card to the climbing centre to enjoy Free Rental Friday, where all climbing rentals are free.
Lastly, Vandals Women’s Basketball has a big week, with three home games that students can go out and support. Monday, they play the University of Montana at 2 p.m. in the ICCU Arena. On Thursday, they take on Sacramento State at 6 p.m. in the ICCU Arena. And on Saturday they face the University of Northern Colorado at 2 p.m. in the ICCU Arena.
