Moscow Volunteer Fire Department is continuing efforts to raise money for both the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the Columbia Center Stair Climb. So far they have raised $24,017.  Currently MVFD is in second place with the Boise Fire Department in first with $46,535 raised.

“It’s been awesome. I think our team is second overall for all the teams that are climbing and so that’s a great accomplishment right there,” firefighter Drew Sibley said. “We’ve been bringing in a lot of money and it’s been great to see just because, for the climb, you have to raise a $300 minimum to climb.”

With the climb less than a month away, MVFD has begun more training to prepare for the climb.

“We’ve really started ramping up our training, which just got really intense. U of I has been really awesome because we’ve gotten to climb in the Tower a couple times now,” firefighter Sienna Greenberg said. “We did that on Sunday, we went up and down the Tower six times, all 11 floors, and we’re training two to three times a week now.”

With the climb a few weeks ahead, Greensburg stated that Red Star Coffee fundraising will be one of the last ones.

“We do have an event coming up,” Greensburg said. “We are gonna do their tap takeovers, it’s gonna be trivia, come drink some beer, have some food and win some raffle prizes.”

The event will be at Tapped- Taphouse & Kitchen on March 6, from 6-9 p.m. Visit this page to donate to LLS on behalf of MVFD.
