UI students walk to class together | Hailee Mallett | Argonaut

Even though syllabus week is over, students have a lot to look forward to in events and activities this week.

Monday was Martin Luther King Jr. Day so school and university activities were cancelled – and in celebration and honor of M.L.K. Jr. there will be a virtual keynote address Thursday 6 p.m. by Speaker and activist Phillip J. Roundtree titled, “MLK and Mental Health: The Spirit of Memory”. The event is free for students and registration is necessary.

Relax and take a break from the weekly stress with The Women’s Center hosting ‘Friday Crafternoons’ Friday from 12pm – 2pm in the Women’s Center in the Memorial Gym. Enjoy free lunch and a fun craft with all materials and instructions provided. rFor those interested in supporting Vandal athletes – Vandal Track, Field, and Cross Country teams are competing in the Lauren McCluskey Memorial Open this Saturday beginning at 9am at the Kibbie Dome.

For anyone interested in getting outside and exploring our beautiful Palouse Valley there is a Snowshoe Trip on Sunday Jan. 23 provided by the Outdoor Center and Women’s Programming. Those who attend can learn how to snowshoe and explore Moscow Mountain on this trip, which costs $25 for students and $40 for all others. Everyone is welcome and the cost includes transportation, lessons, and all necessary equipment. If interested, register here
