University of Idaho’s Administrative services announced that food and beverage sales will temporarily cease at all ticketed events, effective immediately. This decision was announced via email to all students, faculty, and staff Thursday afternoon.

UI will also continue to prohibit outside food and drink from being brought into the facilities, which include the Kibbie Dome and the recently opened ICCU Arena. The university did not announce when they thought the concessions might reopen.

The decision was made due to the rise in cases in Latah County and the Moscow area. Since Dec. 30, there have been 287 cases, with a significant uptick of cases since Monday. Of those cases, 27% were in the 18-27 age bracket.

The first game to be affected will be the women’s basketball game on Thursday at 6 p.m. against Weber State, followed by another women’s basketball game against Idaho State University at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The next men’s basketball home game is Jan. 20, against University of Northern Colorado. Tickets can be purchased on the Vandal Athletics website.
