Halloween is quickly approaching, and there’s no better way to celebrate than by getting cozy and watching some classic Halloween movies. Stay warm inside and finish out spooky season with a bang by rewatching these 5 Halloween movies with friends. 

  1. The Nightmare Before Christmas 

This 1993 Tim Burton classic is the perfect Halloween movie that you can keep watching all the way until Christmas. It tells the story of Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King who decides to branch out and spread the joy of Christmas with the help of his Halloween town friends. This causes all kinds of holiday mix ups in a fun film that all ages will enjoy. 

  1. Scream 

This is one of the most iconic horror films of all time. The 1996 film starring Courtney Cox and Mathew Lillard, among other big names, has been a fan favorite since it came out. Scream manages to be an ironic parody of horror movies while simultaneously being one of the best slasher films the genre has ever seen. If you’re looking for some classic horror this Halloween, sit down for the Scream movie, and maybe even watch the next 3 installments in the franchise for a full-on Scream marathon. 

  1. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown 

After a full-fledged Scream marathon, you might need something a little more family friendly, and there’s no better family classic than the Charlie Brown movie that’s been entertaining kids and adults alike since 1966. Cozy up for a nostalgic cartoon that follows everyone’s favorite ‘blockhead’ Charlie Brown and the rest of the Peanuts gang as they go on spooky Halloween adventures. 

  1. Hocus Pocus 

Another family classic to watch this Halloween, Hocus Pocus is the 1993 that fans keep coming back to again and again for everyone’s favorite witches and the hilarious chaos they cause. This iconic Halloween film follows a teen named Max who accidentally awakens a trio of witches who were executed in the 17th century, and all the trouble they cause in the modern world.

A Halloween movie list would not be complete without the 1978 horror of the same name. This classic slasher film follows Michael Myers, an escaped mental patient who returns to a small town in Illinois to bring terror and fear to the citizens with his murderous plans.
