Free COVID-19 testing kits made available on University of Idaho’s campus

With a limited supply, testing kits aim to provide an additional option

Breaking News Graphic

According to an email sent out by Dean of Students Blaine Eckles, the University of Idaho will be making free Vault testing kits available on campus beginning Wednesday. This follows requests from campus organizations to bring testing back.

While the university’s previous testing facility will not be coming back full-fledged, the kits are intended to “assist the campus community with testing options.”

Free testing kits are now available for students, faculty and staff beginning Oct. 20 from noon to 2 p.m. outside of the Vandal Health Clinic. A medical referral is not needed, though the university has a limited supply of the Vault COVID-19 testing kits, according to the email.

Tests results take 24-48 hours on average to arrive after samples are received by the testing lab.

As the UI incentives program continues, over 4,000 students have submitted their proof of vaccination.

Upcoming vaccination clinics are on Oct. 21 and Nov. 3 from 1-3 p.m. in the Vandal Lounge.
