The Idaho Department of Land has released an announcement that the Idlers Rest fire, which broke on Monday, is now 100% contained at 116 acres.

While it may be fully contained, crews are still on sites, looking to extinguish any remaining hot spots. This will be done until the fire is fully out. Command was transferred back to the local IDL fire protection district yesterday morning.

Fire crews are using unmanned aerial systems that use infrared cameras to find hot spots for the crew. Crews are also using cold training which involves walking in grids and testing the ground with their hands to ensure the fire is fully extinguished and no heat remains.

The GoFundMe for the Garfield’s home, which was lost due to the fire, has passed its $50,000 goal. It has reached $66,421 since Monday.

IDL put out a statement regarding this Labor Day weekend, reminding those recreating in wildlands of the dry conditions. They warned people to use caution when parking vehicles near grass and brush. To properly extinguish campfires, IDL reminds people to drown, stir, repeat and feel with your bare hand to ensure no heat remains.
