Due to labor and food shortage, Idaho Eats closes food court to focus on The Eatery

Being focused on feeding the university

The food court in the Idaho Student Union Building is partially closed beginning Aug. 30. This decision was made Sunday night, with resources being directed to The Eatery instead, according to John Kosh, the marketing director for auxiliary services.

“We have key players that are injuried,” Kosh said. “Our key strength is being focused on feeding those at the university.”

Chick-fil-A, Qdoba and True Burger are fully closed. Einstein’s Bros. Bagels is open, but only serving coffee and espresso beverages. They will remain closed until at least Sept. 7.

Signage posted by Idaho Eats states that they are experiencing a staff-shortage and product shortage due to the pandemic.

Other on campus locations such as The Eatery, The Market and Stovers’ Place remain open. Dinning dollars and meal exchanges are being accepted at each location.

Idaho Eats will provide more information as soon as it is available.

Did you get a chance to ask what their starting wage is? With every fast food joint in town showing signs that wages start at $14-15, I hope anything connected with UI is at that level or beyond - and by choice, not by force.
