A first-year student died from injuries sustained in an accident last Friday.

Breaking News Graphic

A University of Idaho student passed away on May 21 after suffering injuries in a car accident, according to an email from Dean of Students Blaine Eckles earlier today.

According to a report by KTVB, at 12:30 a.m. Kate Roe had veered off the road and struck a parked trailer. She died from her injuries at the scene.

A first-year student, Roe was originally from Boise. Roe was at UI to major in criminology and was an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma.

Students impacted and in need of assistance during this time can contact the Counseling and Testing Center at 208-885-6716. If you are concerned about a student, faculty or staff member and are unsure of what to do, UI encourages you to file a VandalCARE report

The Argonaut will continue to update this story as more information becomes available. We share our condolences and hope to provide a full obituary if Roe’s family and friends feel comfortable sharing.
