Idaho higher education face major budgets cuts

State legislature finance committee seeks to reduce diversity programming

News Update

The Joint Finance Appropriations Committee in the Idaho Legislature recently made proposals to cut further funding from the University of Idaho, Boise State University and Idaho State University.

The proposed budget cuts follow a $409,000 drop in funding for BSU in March, a message from the Legislature about social justice agendas. The new round of cuts would cost UI $500,000.

The change in budgets would cost Idaho universities $2.5 million in funding.
