Reviewing University of Idaho’s many eateries

University of Idaho is known for a lot, but the food is always great to have. It has kept me coming back time and time again, and the University of Idaho has a lot of food to offer. Whether it be through past events or what’s currently on the menu, it’s good food that I hope they continue to serve.

HUB

Whatever your thoughts on The Hub’s food are, there are still some meals I remember for being a cut above the rest. Sometimes it was the regular meals and other times it was during a special event.

Barbecue Burger

The burgers at The Hub were always good because they tasted like an actual burger. They always offered a variety of choices, from a plain old cheeseburger to a bacon burger, although the barbecue burger was their best. It not only used mozzarella cheese, but it had dried onions on it along with tasty barbecue sauce. When paired with the fries, it was delicious.

Fried Chicken

The fried chicken was scrumptious. Perfectly fried with meat that easily came off the bones. It was flavorful, and it reminded me of the friend chicken from WinCo. When paired with mac and cheese, it was a grand filling meal.

The Sundae Bar

The ice cream at The Hub was always a treat, especially when they had cones available. However, on some occasions they would have a sundae bar where you could top your ice cream with hot fudge, caramel, M&M’s, Oreos and other goodies. It was great to add as much as you wanted to it and customize your frozen treat.

Joes Cheesy Grill

It would be wrong to not include the great Joe’s Cheesy Grill to the list. This place always has consoling food to offer students who need something after a long day of working or studying.

Grilled Cheese with Bacon

Who would have thought a classic grilled cheese on sourdough bread with bacon would be so delicious? This simple meal brought me back multiple times. I think it’s the sourdough bread that completes it. Nothing is better than sourdough.

Boneless Wings/Popcorn Chicken

This has gone by a couple names over time, but the simple question remains: what do they put in this chicken? I would always find myself getting the large and snacking down on it. What really completes this meal is the sauces. The best for eating these is honey mustard and buffalo. The honey mustard makes it sweet, whereas the buffalo brings out the spices.

Patty Melt

I had never eaten many patty melts, but Joe’s introduced me to this delicacy. The onions on mozzarella and burgers combine perfectly for a delicious flavor. It’s big too, so I was full after eating it. It may be pricy, but it is worth it.

ISUB

Chick-fil-A

Spicy Chicken Sandwich

This sandwich is just delicious and spicy. If you want to punish your tongue even more, put some buffalo sauce on it. It’s crispy, spicy and flavorful, and it pairs well with the waffle fries. It’s such a perfect meal.

Oreo Shake

The shakes at Chick-fil-A are just wonderful. The way they mix them is creamy and sweet. The Oreo shake is my favorite because they make it so the Oreo chunks can easily come up the straw and don’t clog it up.

The Lemonade

Every time I drink the lemonade, I feel like I just finished a long day’s work, and this has quenched my thirst. It’s sweet, yet not too sweet, and pairs well with anything on the menu. It is the perfect southern style lemonade.

QDOBA

The Beyond Beef bowl

The Beyond Beef is delicious here. It tastes exactly like meat, yet it isn’t. This was my first experience with Beyond Beef, and it paired with any meal. It was delicious.

Einstein Bros. Bagels

This is the place to come to if you have an early morning class on campus. The coffee will wake you up, and the food will give you the energy to start the day off right.

White Chocolate Mocha

This sweet delicacy is best enjoyed hot. It woke me up in the morning when I had an 8 a.m. English class. Combining a delicious flavor with a hefty amount of whipped cream was perfect to sip on in the morning.

The Farmhouse

This delicious breakfast item has all you need in the morning: Bacon, eggs, cheese and ham then smeared with fine pepper shmear. It’s so perfect and filling. I would highly recommend the asiago bagel for this as it adds to the rich, cheesy flavor.
