News update

University of Idaho College of Law has named its next dean.

Johanna Kalb, a former faculty member at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and a Yale University graduate will start the position in May.

Torrey Lawrence, UI’s provost and executive vice president, said Kalb’s background will benefit students and the college with its two locations in Moscow and Boise, according to the press release.

Serving as associate dean of administration and special initiatives at Loyola University, Kalb has experience fit for this position. She holds a bachelor’s from Stanford University, a master’s degree in internal relations from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies and a Juris Doctorate from Yale.

Kalb is also a published scholar, part of the Democracy Program at Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law and part of the Pound Civil Justice Institute.

She will replace Jerrold “Jerry” Long, who has served as dean for the college for three years. Long will return to a faculty position at the college.
