ASUI passes Midterm Munchies project

The bill allocates funding to the purchase of snacks that will be given to students

Associated Students University of Idaho Senate unanimously passed their Midterm Munchies bill, delivering an assortment of snacks and resources to students during midterm week.

The bill, written by Director of Community Relations Connor Dahlquist, Academic Affairs Officer Savannah Stroebel and several others, allocates $1,200 for the purchase of fruit snacks, Cuties, granola bars, Gatorade, masks and a plastic clear UI bag. Administrative and Business Operations donated $1,000 of their own budget to the project, as well.

“It is our responsibility as a governing body to support the students we represent,” Sen. Perez said. “These bags are representative of some great collaborative efforts from many supportive organizations on campus.”

The clear plastic bags have become a necessity for future game days as they are the only allowable bags within the stadium. The bags are being sold at the Vandal Store, but they haven’t sold many due to the pandemic.

“With the pandemic, (the Vandal Store’s) sales with items such as game day plastic bags have been hurting,” Sen. Loffer said. “They’re excited that students will get the opportunity to receive these bags and use them in future games.”

The snacks and bag will be passed out near the Vandal Store during midterm week.
