Christ Church is hosting another Psalm Sing 5 p.m. tonight at Friendship Square, according to the Christ Church Facebook page and a City of Moscow press release.

At the previous two Christ Church-sponsored events, on Sept. 23 and 25, the 50-250 attendees did not heed social distancing or face covering protocols required by the city, the press release stated.

“Given the significant increase in daily confirmed COVID-19 cases in the area, concerns for public and officer safety, and the desire to prevent increased opportunities for community spread, it is strongly recommended that the public stay clear of the area until the end of the advertised gathering,” the press release stated.

Five individuals were cited for suspicion of breaking Moscow’s mask order at the Sept. 23 Psalm Sing, three of whom were arrested. City officials received hundreds of “disturbing” phone calls and emails in response to the arrests.

Moscow Police Department officers will monitor tonight’s gathering from a distance. Follow-up investigations may be conducted and citations issued if violations occur.
