Crumbs: cinnamon toast sticks

CInnamon toast sticks | Nicole Hindberg

It can be hard to make easy, delicious breakfasts every morning when battling a busy schedule. When we’re exhausted before work or other obligations, we don’t want to make anything too complicated if we don’t have to.

Even though breakfast is the most important meal of the day, some breakfast items are full of sugar and don’t have a high nutritional value. This is one of these recipes, but we need some fun in the mornings.

Servings: 6-8
Cook time: 25-30 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 8 slices of bread
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • Butter or oil
  • Maple syrup

Directions:

  1. Cut of the crust off each slice of bread and cut the remaining slices into thirds.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, brown sugar and vanilla extract.
  3. Coat each slices of bread with the mixture.
  4. In another bowl, mix granulated sugar and cinnamon together. Set aside.
  5. Heat a saucepan and coat the pan in melted butter or oil.
  6. Cook each slice on both sides for about 3-5 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Coat the cooked sticks with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  8. Serve with maple syrup and enjoy.
