See what the stars say for you this week

Riley Helal | Argonaut

This week, check your horoscope to see which book genre you vibe with.

June 21 to July 22 | Riley Helal

Fantasy: Sometimes, you just need a good old high fantasy story, full of dragons, elves and maybe a ring to rule them all. Fantasy novels let you curl up and forget the world in favor of a more magical alternative. As someone who often favors staying in your shell, fantasy lets you spread your wings while staying in your comfort zone.

July 23 to Aug. 22 | Riley Helal

Theatrical writing: Plays can be just as fun to read as they are to watch if your imagination is vivid and you enjoy giving characters voices on your own. Reading plays, whether alone in your room or aloud in class, gives you the perfect opportunity to shine and show off your creativity and theatrical skill, Leo.

Aug. 23 to Sept. 22 | Riley Helal

Poetry: Poetry is almost too broad to be a single genre, but you knew that already, Virgo. There’s something for every mood, from sappy romance to angst-y sadness. Sometimes a haiku serves as the best motivational quote you could ask for. You’ve fallen in love with the versatility of poetry and honestly, who wouldn’t?

Sept. 23 to Oct. 22 | Riley Helal

Science fiction: Sci-fi toes the delicate line between scientific reality and impossibility. Standing on that precipice and looking over the edge, dreaming of the possibilities thrills you, Libra, as someone who likes to balance between fact and fiction.

Oct. 23 to Nov. 21 | Riley Helal

Historical fiction: Adding historical structure to a story is a double-edged sword: you can draw on fact (truth is stranger than fiction, after all), but you must also at least somewhat follow the trajectory of reality. You enjoy seeing how your favorite authors achieve this balance.

Nov. 22 to Dec. 21 | Riley Helal

Adventure: Sometimes the best adventures can be had sitting in your living room with a nice cup of tea and a good book. You adore living vicariously through the stories of others when you can’t go on adventures of your own, Sagittarius, although you are often planning your next journey in the little downtime you have.

Dec. 22 to Jan. 19 | Riley Helal

Young adult fiction: Who doesn’t love a little youthful optimism and exuberant storytelling? As an adult, it can become a little tiresome to read only of the adventures of teenagers, but to you, Capricorn, their stories are endearing. No matter how old you get, these stories always steal your heart.

Jan. 20 to Feb. 18 | Riley Helal

Graphic novel: Some may argue that I’m listing graphic novels as a book genre, but hear me out. No matter how gorgeous the artwork, the structure of the story needs to be strong enough to support it. Some people may say you come off strong, Aquarius, but you’re supporting the balance of your social environment.

Feb. 19 to March 20 | Riley Helal

Romance: From the first butterflies of a crush to the lazy domesticity of a long-established relationship, romance stories keep your heart beating. No matter your personal romantic situation, burying yourself in the love lives of your favorite characters helps keep you as optimistic and romantic as your friends know you to be.

March 21 to April 19 | Riley Helal

Thriller: Thriller, crime novel, horror, whatever you call this genre, it has you written all over it. You love solving murder mysteries before the detectives you read about or feeling the adrenaline pump in your veins as the main character hides from a monster (human or not).

April 20 to May 20 | Riley Helal

Comedy: It’s always a good time to relax with a laugh, from your perspective. Comedy always seems to be your go-to, Taurus, although you may not know why. It gives you respite when the world gets to be too much and brightens already sunny moods. What’s not to love?

May 21 to June 20 | Riley Helal

Mystery: Although mysteries can be told from the perspective of the victim, the murder or the detective, you love to jump between all three. Knowing a key to the story or a character’s secret while others remain in the dark is one of your favorite novel tropes.
