Crumbs: Buffalo cauliflower wings

Buffalo cauliflower wings | Nicole Hindberg

Cauliflower seems to be used as an alternative for everything these days for not-so healthy cravings, from pizza and pasta to wings. This easy recipe allows you to make buffalo “wings” so crispy anyone will enjoy them.

This week, I decided to try out a six-ingredient cauliflower wing recipe and it did not disappoint.

Cook time: 40-45 minutes
Servings: About 6-8

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 head of cauliflower
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3 tablespoon milk
  • 1/2 cup buffalo sauce
  • Cooking oil or spray
  • (optional) breadcrumbs

For this recipe, I used Frank’s RedHot Wing Sauce and no breadcrumbs. The breadcrumbs create a crispier texture, but I didn’t have any in the house. Regardless, they still turned out great.

These wings are so similar to chicken wings, you’ll hardly tell the difference.

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to the 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  3. Cut the cauliflower head into florets and cover with cooking oil or spray.
  4. Place florets in a large mixing bowl. Add the flour and garlic powder and mix until the florets are covered. Add the breadcrumbs here if you so desire. Add milk to the bowl and mix.
  5. Using a fork, take the florets from the bowl and place them on the baking tray and bake for 20 minutes.
  6. Take the tray out of the oven, cover the florets with buffalo sauce and bake for 20 more minutes.
  7. Serve with ranch or your sauce of choice and enjoy.
