Makeshift drink Monday: French vanilla iced coffee

Perfect grab and go drink with only a few minutes of preparation

French vanilla iced coffee | Stevie Carr

This French vanilla iced coffee is creamy and chilled, perfect for a busy morning. It’s easy, wholesome and the perfect to-go drink for the summer. It has a light flavor and can cure any coffee cravings. It’s cheaper than going to a coffee shop and just as simple.

If you like your coffee on the sweeter side, you can add cinnamon or cardamom, creamer with added flavors or flavored alternative milks like almond or coconut milk. I recommend using a stronger brewed coffee since the drink can get watered down from the ice. One way to avoid this is making ice cubes with coffee the night before.

What you’ll need

  • 2 cups strongly brewed coffee
  • ½ cup milk or cream
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla syrup
  • 1 cup ice

Start by brewing the cup of coffee. I like to brew mine the night before and refrigerate so it’s cold and ready to go first thing in the morning. I used Folger’s medium roast k-cups.

Pour over coffee over ice, add milk and vanilla syrup to your liking. Blend together using a spoon or stirrer. I used a vitamin D milk and Torani sugar-free vanilla flavoring. You can skip this step and use French vanilla creamer instead if you’d like.

Optional: sprinkle cinnamon to top it off.

Enjoy!
