During the uncertain times of the COVID-19 pandemic, Moscow has seen generosity come out in people.

Owner and Manager of Humble Burger, Nate Wolff, has been impressed by everyone rallying to help one another.

Business for Humble Burger has been good. Wolff said he was amazed that they have been able to keep all their employees working with hardly reducing their hours. However, not everyone has been as fortunate, which is why Humble Burger is finding a way to give back to the community.

Humble Burger has started a Pay-It-Forward program in response to people either losing their jobs or having their hours cut. The program offers free burgers to anyone, no questions asked.

Wolff said the idea was the brainchild of a former employee and University of Idaho graduate, Johanna Tollefson. She originally had the idea to feed people in need who wandered by the restaurant.

“The Pay-It-Forward program was the quickest and easiest way for us to turn her dream into reality,” Wolff said.

To see how many are available, customers can either call them or visit the store. Those who want a burger can choose from bags labeled with the types of burgers offered in the Pay-It-Forward program on a metal post next to the counter in the store.

“Currently we have dozens of bags with either single burgers or meals on them that folks in Moscow, or even out of state have purchased and donated,” Wolff said.

Wolff said they plan on keeping the Pay-It-Forward Program running permanently as a part of Humble Burger’s normal operations. More information on the program can be found on their Facebook page.
